Career and Leadership Development Events (CDE/LDE) create a connection between classroom instruction and real-life employment opportunities. Building upon classroom knowledge, the events prepare students for careers in agriculture. Participants have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and receive awards for outstanding achievement.
Massachusetts FFA Association offers a variety of events throughout the school year at various host sites, as well as during the annual State FFA Convention. All events are conducted according to the MA FFA CDE/LDE policy document (linked below). Advisors and coaches are responsible for knowledge and adherence to current event rules.
For events that are offered at the national level, refer to the National FFA Career Development Event (CDE) and Leadership Development Event (LDE) webpage on FFA.org for the most up-to-date edition of the career and leadership development event handbook. There you will find event rules, scorecards and resource information. Please note, state level events often include a limited number, or modified, event practicums compared to the full set included at the National FFA Convention. Specific practicums that will be included are posted in the information box on the calendar announcement for each event.
National event rules can be found by clicking on the individual CDE name. Rules for state level only events are linked below.
Massachusetts FFA members also participate in the National FFA sponsored Agriscience Fair. Event information can be found at: http://www.ffa.org/programs/ag_sci/. The state event to determine category winners is held during the annual State FFA Convention.
