About Us

Massachusetts FFA Association is dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of young people by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Student members are preparing for careers in agricultural marketing, processing, communications, education, horticulture, production, natural resources, forestry and agribusiness. FFA chapters are established in public schools where they are an integral, intra-curricular part of instruction in agriculture under the provisions of the National Vocational Education Acts.

Massachusetts FFA was chartered in 1931. Today, there are more than 2,000 members in 17 chapters statewide. From Cape Cod to Great Barrington, FFA members are studying small animal technology, hydroponics, environmental science, floriculture, aquaculture, equine science, heavy equipment operations, diesel technology and turf management.

The agricultural education/FFA program has three components that provide a well rounded, practical approach to learning. First, all FFA members are enrolled in a agricultural education course. Students then apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program at home or a part time workplace. FFA, the third component, provides opportunities on the local, state and national levels for students to improve their leadership abilities and test their agricultural skills. Scholarships, travel and awards provide incentives for students to excel.

FFA’s primary aim is the development of agricultural leadership, cooperation and citizenship. Through participation in FFA activities, young men and women, ages 12-21, interested in all aspects of the agricultural industry, learn how to speak in public, conduct and participate in meetings, manage financial matters, solve their own problems and assume civic responsibilities.
